Staff members Delza Embree, Liz Sorenson, Crystal Kindred, Rebecca Buchner, Lorie Moore and Frank Lowe completed an eight-hour training course covering dementia care topics presented by Quality Assurance Training, a Washington-based provider of continuing education.
The special training included differentiating dementia, depression, and delirium; effects of cognitive losses on communication; sexuality and dementia; drugs and dementia; working with families; and self-care for caregivers.

| Rand Riedrich, certified business advisor for the Olympic College Small Business Development Center, was awarded the 2007 Million Dollar Club award for delivering $4,070,082 million in monetary impacts to our community. In his new role, Rhodes will help mentor the editors of the groups other newspapers while also providing general editorial assistance and oversight. Rhodes has been a journalist for 27 years, and began with the Independent as a Reporter in 1995. He was promoted to editor in 2000.
